Quick Shortcuts

General Patient Journey
This is a high-level overview. For the complete MCH workflow — including KKIA registration, antenatal allocation, conditional pathways, and the MCH ED/Labor Room referral protocol — see MCH Clinical Workflow↴.
Triage & Registration
Patient arrives at Triage Counter A. If the case is maternal, postnatal, or child-related, they are redirected to the KKIA Registration Counter at Counters 10 and 11.
Appointment Verification & Allocation
Registration staff verify appointments and issue checklists. Walk-in cases are triaged by nurses, while booked patients are allocated to the lab for Hb and urine testing before room assignment.
Vital Signs & Screening
Nurses record vital signs and anthropometry using the Maternal Health Assessment Template. The patient is then directed to the assigned nurse room or doctor room.
Consultation & Assessment
Doctors and nurses complete the case-specific template, provide assessment and treatment, and use SNOMED-CT coding for documentation. High-risk cases are escalated to the MO or FMS in Room 21.
Discharge & Follow-up Planning
Medication is prescribed via SystmOne–PHIS integration. The next appointment is scheduled in the SystmOne rota, a TCA card is issued, and documentation printouts are attached to the Pink Book before discharge.
